Guwahati, Oct 25: On Friday, Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, called upon newly appointed government employees to commit themselves wholeheartedly to public service, emphasizing the importance of enthusiasm and a dedication to nation-building.

During the Rozgar Mela in Guwahati, Sonowal congratulated 210 new recruits who received their appointment letters, reminding them that their roles in government are not just jobs but a noble responsibility towards the nation.

“Your appointment letters symbolize your capabilities, trust, and responsibilities,” Sonowal stated. “Today marks the beginning of your journey in national service. Equip yourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually to serve with unwavering commitment. Strive to embody the principles of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’,” he added, as noted in a press release.

He also referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vision 2047, urging every recruit to play a part in creating a self-sufficient and progressive India. Sonowal highlighted the significance of maintaining good health and a disciplined mindset through Yoga, which he deemed essential for staying energetic and ready to contribute to the nation's development.

The event coincided with Prime Minister Modi’s virtual address to the Rozgar Mela, where over 51,000 youth across the nation received their appointment letters.

In his address, the Prime Minister remarked that these jobs represent not just government positions but also opportunities for active participation in nation-building. He stated, “When the youth thrive, the nation thrives.”

Modi revealed that more than 11 lakh appointment letters have been distributed through Rozgar Melas to date. He emphasized that the government’s initiatives to enhance employment extend beyond just government roles, mentioning the PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, which aims to create 3.5 crore jobs, along with programs like the Skill India Mission and the National Career Service Portal, which has already listed over seven crore job vacancies.

He also announced the launch of the ‘Pratibha Setu Portal,’ designed to provide new opportunities for UPSC candidates who reached the final selection stage but were not chosen, ensuring their talents contribute to nation-building.

Referring to the GST Bachat Utsav, Modi noted that this initiative has stimulated demand, production, and employment across various sectors. “As goods become more affordable, demand increases, production rises, and new jobs are created. The GST Bachat Utsav has transformed into an Employment Festival,” he remarked, adding that this year’s record Diwali sales indicate a thriving economy.

The Prime Minister also pointed out India’s expanding global partnerships, stating that recent agreements with countries like the UK, Brazil, Singapore, Korea, and Canada will create new opportunities for investment, start-ups, and skilled employment in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, fintech, and clean energy.

Describing India as the “youngest nation in the world,” Modi emphasized that the future of the country relies on the energy and creativity of its youth. He encouraged the new recruits to join the i-GOT Karmayogi Bharat Platform to foster continuous learning and effective governance practices.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister urged the new appointees to embody the spirit of ‘Nagarik Devo Bhava’ – serving citizens with dedication, discipline, and integrity.
